Overview

QuickWords AI ("the App") is a language learning application developed by PappsLabs ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what third-party services are involved.

Authentication

The App uses Sign in with Apple for account creation. When you sign in, Apple provides a unique identifier that we use to create your account via Firebase Authentication. If you choose to share your email address with Apple Sign In, we collect and store that email address for account-related functionality and support.

Your Firebase user ID is used to authenticate API requests, manage your subscription status, support app functionality, and analyze app usage and reliability.

Data Collection & Storage

We collect and store the following:

On-device data — Your flashcards, study progress, and learning statistics are stored locally on your device using Core Data. This data is not synced to our servers.
Contact information — Your email address may be collected and stored when you share it during sign-in or otherwise provide it to us for account-related functionality.
Authentication data — Your Firebase user ID is stored on our servers to authenticate requests, support subscriptions, and help us understand app usage.
Identifiers — We may collect device-related identifiers for analytics and service reliability.
Usage data — We collect product interaction data, such as how features are used inside the app, for analytics and app functionality.
Diagnostics — We collect crash data and other diagnostic data to maintain app functionality, troubleshoot issues, and improve stability.
AI-generated content cache — To improve performance and reduce redundant processing, we cache AI-generated outputs (such as translations, example sentences, thumbnails, and audio) on our servers. This cache is keyed by content hash, not by user identity.

Some of this data, including email address, user ID, product interaction data, and certain crash data, may be linked to your identity or account. Other technical identifiers and diagnostic information may be collected in a form that is not linked to your identity.

AI Features

When you use AI-powered features — flashcard generation, example sentences, translations, and text-to-speech — your input text is sent to our server and processed using Google Gemini AI services. Specifically:

Topics and language preferences are sent for flashcard generation.
Words and phrases are sent for example sentence generation and translation.
Text is sent for audio/speech generation via Google Vertex AI.

We do not use your input data to train AI models. Google's use of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy and Data Processing terms.

Subscriptions

The App uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat receives your Firebase user ID and purchase transaction data from Apple. RevenueCat's handling of this data is governed by their Privacy Policy.

Analytics

We collect limited analytics data, including user IDs, device identifiers, and product interaction data, to understand how the App is used, support app functionality, measure reliability, and improve the user experience. Some analytics data may be associated with your account.

Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports, error logs, and other diagnostic information. This helps us identify and fix bugs and maintain app functionality. Diagnostic data may include device type, device identifiers, OS version, stack traces, and related technical information. In some cases, crash or diagnostic data may be associated with your user ID or account so we can investigate and resolve issues affecting specific users.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) — Authentication, analytics-related processing, App Check, and Crashlytics.
Google Gemini / Vertex AI (Google) — AI-powered flashcard generation, translations, examples, and text-to-speech.
RevenueCat — Subscription and purchase management.
Apple — Sign in with Apple and StoreKit for in-app purchases.

What We Don't Do

We do not sell your personal data.
We do not serve ads or use advertising trackers.
We do not use your data for third-party advertising.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your on-device data can be deleted at any time by removing the app. Cached AI-generated content on our servers is not linked to your identity and is retained to improve performance. To request deletion of your Firebase account and any associated server-side data, contact us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

QuickWords AI does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
